The indoor facility is located next to the hotel’s 9-acre Garden Conservatory. A uniquely-designed roof permits natural light, giving guests the opportunity to sunbathe indoors year-round. A modern design, sleek finishes and thrilling rides intertwined with living walls and plant beds create an alluring ambiance. “We believe this project will drive increased outside-the-room spending and additional points of premium-rated transient occupancy by enticing visitors to extend their stay in Nashville.”įusing water and music with amenities and activities, SoundWaves offers an experience unique to Music City. “We view this project as a tremendous opportunity to further cement Nashville’s must-visit status with a one-of-a-kind amenity that will appeal to group customers while also serving as a major demand inducer for families and adult leisure guests looking for upscale recreation options,” said Colin Reed, chairman and chief executive officer of Ryman Hospitality Properties. It will include a 315,000-gallon wave pool. The outdoor portion of the project, also being designed and built by ADG, is expected to be completed this summer. The project received $14 million in tax breaks, with the intention to encourage tourism in the region.Ĭurrently, The SoundWaves park is only open to guests staying at the Opryland Resort who have purchased admission and is slated to operate year-round at a temperature of 84º. The $90 million, 111,000 square foot three-level, music industry-themed waterpark features five waterslides, a FlowRider Double, rapid and lazy rivers, an activity pool with rock climbing and more. The indoor portion of the waterpark expansion opened to the public after Aquatic Development Group (ADG) completed its work. In closing, what was initially supposed to be a fun weekend getaway became a frustrating experience with little time to enjoy what we came to see.Guests of the Gaylord Opryland Resort, Nashville, Tennessee, had another reason to celebrate the holiday season with the December 1 opening of Phase 1 of SoundWaves, America’s first upscale, indoor/outdoor resort water attraction. However at 2am, many tired individuals, and knowing we could see the lanyard, it was not time for playing cute games. Finally, security did find the keys in lost and found but wanted to play the run around game and hide them behind his back until they could be “described” again. Since they weren’t able to show them, as the women had them, security was suspicious of their intentions. They were stopped and questioned by security about having a room there. As if this wasn’t enough, my boyfriend and his brother were walking around attempting to find a set of keys we somehow misplaced. Even after I was put on hold to attempt to contact them, my representative came back with no definitive answers. They were also unable to answer ICE questions, aside from the basics. We were given the wrong information, and until we did our own research, we’re stuck at 10pm trying to find a place to eat in the massive resort. We called the Make-it-happen to inquire about dining times. After all this we went on to attempt to enjoy our stay. I am my boyfriends family support person and with him being a veteran and suffering from PTSD and physical injuries a King bed is essential for any rest and reprieve from nightmares, aches and anxiety. We booked this room a month in advance, with a Military discount, expecting a king room for a reason. What no one bothered to ask, nor think about, was why. I never wanted an upgrade, yes it was nice, so of course we took it, however the bed size was the issue. We later found this was not true since they were then upgraded to the “presidential suite” which ironically has a king size bed. My sister in law was given a credit as we took the last “upgrade”. I was offered an atrium view room, technically an upgrade, which was nice but did not fix the problem of the bed size. It was not until I came back to the front where they explained there were none. We quickly realized they overbooked the King rooms and we were given a room with two queens. He said nothing further and sent myself, and my sister-in-law up to our rooms. Upon check-in the employee helping us began mumbling about no more King beds. However, us and our brother and sister-in-law were hoping for a magical Christmas couples weekend and we’re greeted with issue after issue. I guess we should have learned from our previous experience.
